They believe technology will elevate them to a “god” like status with virtual immortality. The coming “Singularity”, when super intelligent computers, will produce technology that will extend life, reverse aging and cure all disease. They realize the entire population of the planet cannot be immortal so they have resigned themselves to the fact that the vast majority of the population must parish in order to allow for the few to live forever.
