From the Desk of Big Brother

I read this article from The Irish Times linked here. It warmed my bitter old heart to see this Irish publication use such thoughtful and convincing TrueSpeak. There is a line in the article that states that between July 3rd and 9th of this year, “The figures show that 38 children aged four and younger were hospitalised last week with Covid-19, some 10 per cent of the total number”. The TrueSpeak in this is the use of the verb “with”…as in “hospitalized with”…not “hospitalized from”. I could easily be shot and require hospitalization. The hospital staff would perform a PCR test to determine my COVID status. If the test comes back positive, I am “hospitalized with” COVID even though I had no symptoms. Nice play on words that the Ministry of Truth approves of.
