Styx does a great job breaking down the problems with the 2022 midterms for the GOP. He is correct that the leadership of the GOP is mainly to blame in this. How do you have multiple situations like the ones in Alaska and not blame the leadership. A Republican on Republican race that the GOP is backing the non-MAGA candidate and using money that could be used to help a GOP candidate in a race against the left. Another one where you have Sarah Palin and Nick Begich splitting over 50% of the vote leaving the Democrat in the lead with 47%. A leader would have gotten into that situation and said, you or you, “get out” for the good of the party. The good of the party Mitch and Lindsey want is one where Trump loses his influence so they can protect their power. They thought they could put a chink in his armor if we had a less than stellar performance on this night. The good of the country be damned if it means Trump remains the leader of the party.
