Data from the EU appears to be manipulated due to defying Benford’s Law. The law describes the distribution of the first digit in a dataset of numbers. It predicts that the first digit will be a 1 roughly 30% of the time. The higher the number, correlates to a lower likelihood of it being the first digit instead of 11.1% of the time if all digits 1 through 9 were distributed evenly. When this law fails to apply to a large dataset, it is an indication the data has been artificially manipulated.
