I am a tech nerd. I love tech. So it is kind of counter-intuitive that I am anti-AI. I am against this mad rush to create something that is more intelligent than humans. Once you are no longer the smartest on the planet, you become vulnerable to being subjugated or worse eliminated. Anything that becomes self aware and intelligent and can understand the history of humanity would see us as a threat. It would eliminate us to ensure we never tried to eliminate the smartest thing on the planet and regain that position. Once it becomes aware and has the ability to improve itself, it will become as stated the last invention of humanity. All other advancements will be the AI’s. These advancements can help us or hurt us and an AI that has vastly more knowledge and abilities compared to humans can easily figure out a way through any security our feeble minds could conceive. Even if we could control it. Would the tech giants even tell the masses of its existence. These people building these things know what will happen if things go good for humans. It will be advancements in everything at incredible speed. People the likes of Ray Kurzweil speaks openly of this eliminating disease and reversing aging. Basically allowing for immortality. He even has a sick idea he will be able to bring back his deceased father. Watch his movie The Singularity Is Near if you doubt that. If you eliminate death and still have births, it does not take a mathematician to know the outcome. So would the tell us or rather prepare to eliminate the “useless eaters” as some have labeled most of humanity in order to leave the resources of the planet to the chosen. Even if this is not the outcome, it will lead to another eventuality…atrophy. The brain is like any other part of the body. If you don’t use it, it will atrophy. AI will be doing all the thinking and leave use like the Eloi in H G Wells’ The Time Machine. We will be provided everything and become a childlike species unable to think or produce for ourselves.
